The Romanian Association of Geomorphologists (AGR) is a private, professional, and scientific organization with legal personality, apolitical, non-governmental, possessing its own distinct and indivisible assets. The association brings together geomorphologists as well as individuals interested in geomorphology and was established on November 20, 1990 ( General Assembly 2011;

The purpose of AGR is to promote the activities and achievements of Romanian geomorphologists; to engage at the decision-making and legislative level on matters related to terrestrial environmental planning and protection; to initiate and carry out fundamental and applied research projects involving geomorphological elements; to organize scientific conferences with national and international participation; to publish high-quality scientific literature; and to award outstanding scientific contributions of its members.
The association is a full member of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG). AGR publishes Journal of Geomorphology which brings together scientific papers from various branches of geomorphology.
